Everything you need to set up Warmly and keep your morning messages flowing.
Warmly is a native macOS app that sends warm, encouraging messages to your contacts every morning through the Messages app. Here's how to get up and running:
Warmly.dmg, open it, and drag Warmly into your Applications folder.Requirements: macOS 12 Monterey or later, with an Apple ID signed into the Messages app.
Because Warmly sends messages on your behalf, macOS requires you to explicitly approve a couple of permissions. This is normal and keeps you in control — everything stays on your Mac.
Automation (control Messages) — required. The first time Warmly sends a message, macOS shows a dialog asking if Warmly may control the Messages app. Click OK. If you dismissed it by accident, you can re-enable it here:
Contacts access — optional. Only needed if you want to import people from your macOS Address Book. Grant it under System Settings → Privacy & Security → Contacts.
Tip: Make sure the Messages app itself is set up and signed into your Apple ID before your first scheduled send. Try sending one message manually in Messages to confirm it works.
You can add the people you want to reach in two ways:
For each contact you can choose:
Set the time you'd like messages to go out under Settings. Warmly also supports a humanized delivery window so your messages never feel robotic:
What if my Mac is asleep or off?
You do not need to keep the app window open. Once configured, you can close the window — Warmly wakes up briefly each day in the background to send, then goes back to sleep.
Warmly comes with a curated library of messages, and you can fully customize how they're delivered:
{name} — the contact's name{quote} — the selected message text{author} — the quote's authorSmart rotation: Warmly tracks what each person has received so they never get the same message twice. When every message in a category has been used, it resets automatically and starts fresh.
Every install includes a free Starter Support Pack (30 messages). Premium add-on packs — Mindfulness & Zen, Success & Drive, Deep Connections, and more — give you specialized libraries for different situations.
The dashboard helps you stay consistent:
Warmly is free to download and try for 30 days — no credit card required. To unlock unlimited contacts and support development:
Your license is a one-time purchase — no subscription or renewals. Need to move to a new Mac? Just paste the same key there. Warmly depends on macOS and Messages.app; see our Terms of Service for compatibility details.
Messages aren't sending. Work through these in order:
A contact on Android isn't receiving messages. Non-Apple devices receive standard SMS. This requires Text Message Forwarding enabled on a paired iPhone (iPhone Settings → Messages → Text Message Forwarding), with that iPhone signed into the same Apple ID.
"Warmly can't be opened" on first launch. Right-click (or Control-click) the app icon and choose Open, then confirm. You only need to do this once.
My license key won't activate. Double-check there are no extra spaces, that you're using the email the key was sent to, and that you're connected to the internet during activation. Still stuck? Email us below.
Warmly runs entirely on your own Mac. There are no accounts and no remote servers. Your contacts, message preferences, and send history are stored locally on your computer — we can never see your contacts or conversations. For full details, see our Privacy Policy.
We're happy to help with setup, licensing, or anything else. Visit our Contact page or email support@warmly.app — we typically respond within 24 hours on weekdays.
